Frequently Asked

The questions clients ask most often.

Booking, treatments, policies, directions — answered honestly so you can show up to your visit knowing exactly what to expect.

i.

Booking & scheduling.

How to book, when to book, and what to do if something changes.

All appointments are booked through Fresha — my online booking system. You can book directly through the link on our website, or call (201) 846-7854 if you'd prefer to schedule by phone.

If you're new, I recommend starting with a New Client Consultation or our New Client Clinical Facial so we can build a real plan for your skin from the very first visit.

For weekday appointments, two to three weeks ahead is usually fine. For Saturdays, prom season, and the weeks before major holidays, four to six weeks ahead is safer.

If you have a specific event — a wedding, a milestone birthday, photos — book that final pre-event treatment at least two weeks before the event, never closer.

I don't accept walk-ins. Every treatment is customized and timed, which means the studio runs on appointments — not drop-ins. If you're hoping for something same-day, give me a call and I'll let you know if I have an opening.

Yes — through Fresha or by calling. Please give at least 24 hours notice for any reschedule or cancellation. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are charged 50% of the service fee, per my booking policy.

I understand life happens. If something genuinely unexpected comes up, reach out and we'll figure it out.

Yes — physical and digital gift cards are available through Fresha. They're a thoughtful gift for clients who appreciate experiences over things, and they never expire.

ii.

Treatments & what to expect.

What actually happens during your visit, and how to choose the right service.

If you've never been to The Skin Tune, start with a New Client Consultation or our New Client Clinical Facial. Both are designed to assess your skin, talk through your goals, and build a plan before jumping into treatments.

If you already have a clear idea of what you want — say, a HydraFacial or a specific peel — you can book that directly, and I'll do a thorough skin assessment at the start of your visit.

They build on each other:

  • Signature (60 min) — A foundational facial with cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, mask, and hydration. Great for maintenance and first-time clients.
  • Advanced (75 min) — Everything in the Signature plus targeted active treatments like enzymes, chemical exfoliation, or LED. Built for clients working on specific concerns.
  • Intensive (90 min) — The deepest treatment I offer. Multiple layers of actives, extended extractions, and advanced modalities. For clients ready for serious correction.

It depends on the treatment. Most standard facials and HydraFacials cause no visible peeling at all — your skin will look and feel better immediately.

Chemical peels and some advanced treatments can cause light to moderate flaking for a few days. I'll always tell you what to expect before we start, and you'll get detailed aftercare instructions to take home.

For most clients, every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal for maintenance facials. If we're working on a specific concern — acne, pigmentation, texture — I may recommend every 2 to 3 weeks initially, then space it out as your skin improves.

Consistency matters more than intensity. Showing up regularly with a simple routine will always beat one aggressive treatment with no follow-through.

Yes — I see clients ages 12 and up. Teen facials are gentler, age-appropriate, and focused on teaching good habits early. I also spend time educating teens on what their skin actually needs (which is usually less than they think).

A parent or guardian must be present for clients under 16.

Glacial Fx is a cooling treatment system that uses controlled cold therapy to calm inflammation, tighten pores, and boost circulation. It's especially great for rosacea-prone or reactive skin, and it pairs beautifully with facials and peels.

I offer two levels — Glacial Gloss (a lighter, refreshing session) and Glacial Glide (a deeper, more targeted treatment). Both leave your skin visibly calmer and firmer immediately.

iii.

Policies & logistics.

The boring but important stuff — payment, lateness, refunds.

I require 24 hours notice for cancellations and reschedules. Late cancellations (under 24 hours) and no-shows are charged 50% of the booked service fee.

This policy exists because your appointment slot is reserved exclusively for you — when it goes unfilled, that time can't be recovered. Full details are on my Policies page.

I accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and cash. Payment is collected at the time of service through Fresha. Tips are appreciated but never expected.

If you're running more than 10 minutes late, please call or text so I can adjust. I'll do my best to accommodate you, but late arrivals may result in a shortened treatment to avoid delaying the next client.

If you're more than 15 minutes late without notice, the appointment may need to be rescheduled and the late cancellation fee may apply.

Packages are non-refundable once purchased but they never expire. If your skin goals change, I'm happy to swap unused sessions for a different treatment of equal value — just let me know.

Product sales are final. Because I only recommend products after assessing your skin in person, the guidance is tailored to you — and I stand behind every recommendation. If something isn't working or causing a reaction, reach out and I'll help you troubleshoot before you give up on it.

iv.

Products & aftercare.

What you take home, when, and how to keep your results going.

No — and I'll never pressure you. But I'll be honest: what you do at home between visits matters as much as (or more than) what happens in the treatment room. The right cleanser, SPF, and one or two targeted products can make the difference between maintaining your results and losing them.

I'll always give you a recommendation. Whether you buy from me or not is entirely up to you.

GlyMed Plus is the professional skincare line I use and recommend. It's a clinical-grade brand formulated with active botanicals, pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, and no unnecessary fillers. It's only available through licensed professionals — you won't find it at Sephora or on Amazon.

I chose GlyMed Plus because it delivers real results without compromising skin health, and it works across all skin types and tones.

You can purchase products in the studio after your treatment, or anytime through my online store. I keep the most-recommended products in stock so you can take them home the same day.

If something is temporarily out of stock, I'll order it for you — it usually arrives within a few days.

It depends on your concern and your starting point. Some clients notice a visible difference after a single treatment — especially with HydraFacials and Glacial Fx. For concerns like acne, pigmentation, or texture, meaningful change typically takes 3 to 6 treatments over a few months.

Skin doesn't change overnight. But with the right plan, consistent visits, and a solid home routine, you'll see real, lasting improvement — not just a temporary glow.

Arrive 5 minutes early. This gives you time to park, find the suite, and settle in before we start. If it's your first visit, arriving a few minutes earlier helps — there's a short intake form to fill out.

Yes. The building has elevator access to the second floor, and the suite is on the same level — no stairs required once you're upstairs. If you have specific accessibility needs, let me know when you book and I'll make sure everything is ready for you.

You don't have to — I cleanse your skin thoroughly at the start of every treatment. That said, coming with a clean face saves time and lets me get a better look at your skin from the moment you walk in. Either way, you're fine.

The treatment room is a calm, private space — so I ask that guests wait in the main area or come back when you're done. The one exception: a parent or guardian is welcome (and required for clients under 16) during teen treatments.
