Two Ways to Get Started
Every new client begins with a consultation — either on its own or combined with your first treatment. Both include a full skin assessment and a written plan.
New Client Consultation
- Thorough skin analysis under professional lighting
- Discussion of your skin history, concerns, and goals
- Personalized home care plan with GlyMed Plus products
- Written treatment roadmap for your next steps
New Client Clinical Facial
- Everything in the consultation, plus your first treatment
- Customized corrective facial tailored to your skin that day
- Professional extractions, masking, and targeted serums
- Ideal if you have acne, aging concerns, or want to dive right in
A Note From Kristen
Every client who walks through my door is starting fresh. No judgment about what you've tried before, what your skin looks like right now, or how long it's been since your last facial. None of that matters to me.
What matters is where you want to go. I'll assess what I'm seeing, and walk you through exactly what I'd recommend and why.
You'll leave with clarity: a clear understanding of your skin, a written plan, and the confidence that someone who actually knows what they're doing is in your corner.
— Kristen

Your first visit
Here's Exactly What to Expect
No surprises. No pressure. Just a clear, step-by-step experience designed to make you feel at ease and leave you with real results.
We Talk First
We start with a skin consultation — your history, concerns, current routine, and what you're hoping to achieve. I listen before I recommend anything.
Skin Analysis
I analyze your skin under professional lighting to identify what's really going on beneath the surface — not just what's visible to the naked eye.
Your Treatment
I perform your customized treatment — adjusting every step in real time based on what your skin needs that day, not a preset menu selection.
Your Plan
You leave with a written skincare plan — your home care routine, recommended products, and the next steps for your treatment journey.
Before you arrive
How to Prepare for Your First Visit
A little preparation goes a long way toward ensuring your first treatment is as effective as possible.
- Come with a clean face if you prefer — or I'll remove your makeup at the start of your appointment
- Fill out your intake form before your visit (sent via email after booking)
- Arrive 5 minutes early so we have the full appointment time together
- Bring a list of any skincare products you currently use — photos on your phone work great
- Let me know about any medications, especially topical prescriptions like Retin-A
- Tell me if you've had any recent cosmetic procedures (fillers, Botox, laser, etc.)
- Let me know about any allergies, especially to fragrance, nuts, or latex
- Drink plenty of water in the days before — hydrated skin responds better to treatment
- Retinol or prescription retinoids for 3–5 days before your appointment (unless your esthetician has cleared you)
- Exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs, scrubs) for 48 hours before
- Sun exposure without SPF in the week before your visit — avoid tanning and sunburns
- Shaving directly before a facial, especially for dermaplaning services
- Waxing the face within 5 days of your appointment
- Any new topical treatments you haven't used before — we'll discuss everything at your visit
- Wearing jewelry that could interfere with your treatment area
During your visit
Your Comfort Comes First
The Skin Tune is a private, one-on-one studio. It's just us — which means your appointment runs on your timeline, not a packed schedule.
Private & Calm
You'll have Kristen's undivided attention for the entire appointment. No one else is being seen at the same time. No background noise. No rushing. Just a calm, focused experience built entirely around you.
Always Explained
Kristen narrates every step of your treatment — what she's applying, why she's using it, and what it's doing to your skin. You'll leave understanding your skin better than you ever have.
Fully Customized
Your treatment is adjusted in real time based on how your skin is responding. If something needs to be modified mid-session, it will be — without hesitation, and with a full explanation of why.
Your Intake Form
After booking, you'll receive an email with a link to your new client intake form. Please complete it before your appointment — it takes about 5 minutes and helps Kristen prepare your treatment in advance. If you have any trouble completing it, just call or text (201) 846-7854.

Answers to Your Biggest Questions
Which treatment should I book first?
We always recommend starting with a New Client Consultation ($90, 45 min) or New Client Clinical Facial ($215, 75 min). Both include a full skin assessment and a written plan. If you have specific concerns like acne or visible signs of aging, the Clinical Facial gets you started right away.
Do I need to come without makeup?
You're welcome to arrive however you're comfortable. Kristen will remove all makeup at the beginning of your appointment as part of the cleansing step, so there's no need to pre-cleanse at home — though you're welcome to if you'd like.
How long will my first appointment take?
A New Client Consultation runs approximately 45 minutes. A New Client Clinical Facial is 75 minutes. Please allow a few extra minutes on either end for paperwork and post-treatment questions. We never rush.
I have sensitive skin — is that okay?
Absolutely. Sensitive skin is one of Kristen's specialties. She'll always do a patch test where appropriate and adjust the treatment intensity based on how your skin responds in real time. Please disclose any known sensitivities on your intake form.
Will my skin look red or irritated after?
Mild redness immediately after a facial is completely normal and typically resolves within a few hours. Peeling or flaking after a chemical peel is expected and may last several days. Kristen will give you specific aftercare instructions for your treatment type.
Can I wear makeup after my appointment?
For most facials, it's recommended to let your skin breathe for at least 12–24 hours. Kristen will give you specific guidance based on your treatment. For peels and resurfacing treatments, a longer makeup-free period is advised.
What is the cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. No-shows will be charged the full service amount. We understand emergencies happen — please reach out as soon as you know.
Is there parking?
Yes — there is free parking available in the parking lot at 19 Spear Road. Take the elevator or stairs to Suite 206 on the second floor. If you have any trouble finding us, just call or text (201) 846-7854 and Kristen will guide you in.
